Concerned drivers urge operators to hold fares amid expected tax cuts

Commuters Stranded As Private Transport Operators Begin Sit-Down Strike Today
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Concern Drivers Association has appealed to transport operators nationwide to hold off on increasing fares ahead of government’s next fuel pricing decision.

Speaking at a press conference, National Chairman William Osei said the leadership of various transport unions is engaging government to ease the burden on both drivers and passengers amid rising fuel costs.

He expressed optimism that government will move to reduce certain fuel-related taxes, a decision expected to bring some relief to the transport sector.

Mr. Osei also addressed concerns about a possible ban on Toyota Voxy vehicles for commercial use, stating that the Association has engaged the Transport Minister, Joseph Nikpe Bukari, who assured them that no such directive has been issued.

He added that the Minister has not received any official report supporting claims of a ban on Voxy vehicles.
