The High Court in Accra has granted an interlocutory injunction stopping a planned “Celebration of Life” event scheduled for March 28 and 29, 2026, at Independence Square.

The application was filed by the Head of Family of the Ekuana Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta, Abusua Panyin Victor Kofi Owusu, also known as Abusua Panin Tupac.

In a statement issued on March 25, lawyers for the family, Baba Jamal & Associates, confirmed that the court order restrains specific individuals and their associates from organising or hosting the event.

“The High Court, Accra, has upheld the application for an interlocutory injunction filed by our client,” the statement said.

The legal team added that the order “specifically restrains Nana Yaw Akosa, also known as Papa Shee, Akosua Serwaa Schindler, Ernestina Fosuh, Wofa Yaw Poku, and their agents or assigns from organising, promoting, or hosting any event titled ‘Celebration of Life’.”

According to the statement, the injunction covers the planned venue at Independence Square and any alternative location.

“By upholding this injunction, the Court totally prohibits any attempt to proceed with the celebration of life or any such event,” the lawyers stated.

They also cautioned that anyone who ignores the court order could face legal consequences.

“The organisers, venue providers, and active participants are hereby cautioned that defying this order constitutes contempt of court, which is punishable by law,” the statement said.

The firm further warned that it is prepared to take action if the directive is not respected.

“We shall not hesitate to initiate committal proceedings against any individual who seeks to undermine the sanctity of the Court,” they added.
