A 30-year-old ginger farmer, Francis, has been arrested by the Toase Police in the Ashanti Region for allegedly cutting off the hand of a 19-year-old suspected thief at Atwima Trabuom.

The incident occurred on Friday, March 21, 2026, when the suspected thief attempted to steal ginger from a farm around 2:00 AM and had his right hand severed in the process.

According to the Unit Committee Chairman for the area, Kwadwo Amankwa, the suspected thief went out on Friday and returned home early morning without his hand.

Amankwa revealed that the suspected thief had gone to some ginger farms around 2:00 AM but was attacked and had his hand severed.

The police were notified, and Francis was later arrested as a prime suspect and is currently assisting with investigations.
