Black Stars step up World Cup preparations with Wales friendly

Ghana will continue preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with an international friendly against Wales on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The match will mark the first-ever senior men’s meeting between the two nations and also the first time an African national team will play a men’s international match in Wales.

The Black Stars, who have already secured qualification for the World Cup, will face England, Croatia and Panama in the group stage of the tournament scheduled to be hosted in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Ghana are expected to parade several key players including Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams and Mohammed Kudus as Coach Otto Addo continues to fine-tune his squad ahead of the global showpiece.

The fixture forms part of Ghana’s busy friendly schedule, with matches against Austria, Germany and Mexico also lined up in the build-up to the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Wales’ participation in the tournament is yet to be confirmed as Craig Bellamy’s side must navigate the play-off pathway in March. They will first face Bosnia & Herzegovina on March 26 before a potential play-off final against either Italy or Northern Ireland on March 31.
