Two boys, both under the age of 20, have been arrested by police at Mile 7 following an alleged attempt to rob a military officer. The suspects reportedly used a toy gun and a pair of scissors in the attempted crime, which authorities say was foiled before any harm occurred.

According to police reports, the incident took place in the early hours of the day while the military officer was on duty in the area. The boys allegedly approached the officer with the toy firearm and scissors, demanding money or valuables. The officer’s quick thinking and alertness prevented the situation from escalating.

Law enforcement officials, acting on information provided by the officer, quickly apprehended the suspects at the scene. Both boys were taken into custody and are currently being held at the local police station for questioning. Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine whether the suspects have been involved in similar incidents in the past.

Police emphasized that although the weapon used was a toy, the act constitutes attempted robbery, a serious offense under Ghanaian law. Investigators are working to ensure that appropriate charges are filed and that the juveniles are processed in accordance with the law, given their age.

Community members at Mile 7 expressed concern over the incident, highlighting the growing need for vigilance and youth engagement programmes to curb such criminal activities. Some residents have called for increased police patrols in the area to deter similar crimes and protect both civilians and security personnel.

Legal experts note that while the suspects are minors, the law allows for prosecution in cases involving serious offenses. Authorities have stressed the importance of distinguishing between juvenile delinquency and criminal intent in handling the case.
