According to a news card shared by GHOne on February 6, 2026, the alleged incident occurred during the Eastern Regional Inter-School Sports Festival in Koforidua.

The victim was reportedly found in a visibly weak condition and first taken to the police before referred to the Eastern Regional Hospital for medical attention.

“A female student of Osino Presbyterian Senior High School has allegedly been gang raped during an interschools sports competition held in Koforidua, Eastern Region,” the report stated.

Meanwhile, another incident of violence was recorded during the inter-school games as a student of Koforidua Senior High Technical School (SECTECH) was also stabbed during disturbances linked to the sports festival.

The victim, identified as Jerome Appiah, was allegedly attacked by some Form Two students of New Juaben Senior High School while eating waakye on his way to campus. He reportedly sustained a deep machete wound to the shoulder and bled profusely.

Police personnel from the Eastern Regional Command arrived promptly at the scene and rushed the injured student to the Eastern Regional Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment and is said to be in stable condition.

Following the stabbing, the Headmaster of Koforidua SECTECH, Emmanuel Frimpong Benjabeng, together with teachers, rushed to the Koforidua Youth Resource Centre, the venue of the inter-schools sports festival, to prevent possible retaliatory attacks by agitated SECTECH students.
