Mercurial striker Joseph Esso has agreed to re-sign for Hearts of Oak on a two-year contract after he rejected to extend his contract before being released a week ago.
The 23-year-old met with the management of the club on Thursday and finally reached an agreement with the phobians.
The striker’s exit sparked outrage from the Hearts of Oak faithful who can now heave a huge sigh of relief with the player agreeing to sign a new deal in the coming hours.
The former Elmina Sharks forward and the Phobians parted ways last Friday, much to the surprise and dismay of fans of the club after failing to successfully negotiate a contract renewal.
Benjamin Agyare, Bernard Arthur, Abubacar Traore and Christopher Bonney were also released.
Esso, who played 14 games and netting on three occasions in the Premier League last season joined Hearts from Ebusua Dwarfs in 2018.
He was among Ghana’s best players at the 2019 WAFU Cup of Nations in Senegal where he scored twice to help the side finish as runners-up.
Following a good showing at the cup tournament, the attacker was heavily linked to Sudanese side Al-Hilal last December.
