A 40-year-old man, identified as Kofi Dagati, was beaten to death by an angry mob at Takoradi Circle following an alleged theft attempt.

According to Ebenezer Manso-Cudjoe (DCE) reporting for Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow the incident occurred amidst rising tensions over local security.

Dagati reportedly scaled a wall into a private yard, unaware that the premises were being monitored by a security guard.

When confronted, a physical struggle ensued. Dagati allegedly pulled a concealed pair of scissors and stabbed the guard multiple times in the head.

While the suspect attempted to flee the scene shortly after, he was intercepted by a mob and beaten severely before being left on the street.

The area has seen a spike in criminal activity due to ongoing market renovations.

The construction has forced many traders to rent private spaces for their wares, which have become frequent targets for burglars.

Residents and traders had consistently complained about persistent thefts before this fatal confrontation.

The security guard remains in critical condition and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Dagati was discovered alive but convulsing early the following morning; however, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

His body was transported to the Effia Nkwanta Government Hospital mortuary, where it was reportedly met with initial hesitation by facility staff before being accepted.
