Ghana’s Black Queens have been drawn in Group D of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which will be staged in Morocco from March 17 to April 3.

The draw sees Kim Lars Björkegren’s side pitted against Cameroon, Mali, and Cape Verde, with Ghana set to face Cape Verde for a second successive tournament following their meeting at the 2024 edition.

The Black Queens will be competing in their second consecutive WAFCON, having returned to the continental stage in 2024 after their last appearance in 2018.

Ghana secured qualification for the 2026 tournament with a commanding 7–1 aggregate victory over Egypt, achieved under the guidance of Björkegren.

Record champions Nigeria have been drawn in Group C, where they will renew their rivalry with Zambia, while also facing Egypt and Malawi.

Meanwhile, hosts and 2022 and 2024 finalists Morocco headline Group A, alongside Algeria, Senegal, and Kenya.

The top two teams in each group will automatically advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Beyond continental glory, Ghana will also be targeting a return to the FIFA Women’s World Cup after a 19-year absence, with a semi-final finish at WAFCON enough to secure qualification.

Full Group Stage Draw

Group A: Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, Kenya
Group B: South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Tanzania
Group C: Nigeria, Zambia, Egypt, Malawi
Group D: Ghana, Cameroon, Mali, Cape Verde
