BRITISH ARMY DELIVER URBAN OPERATIONS TRAINING IN GHANA Over the past month, British troops have been helping to train Ghanaian soldiers to counter threats from violent extremist organisations. Soldiers from the British Army have been working with their Ghanaian Partner Force in Accra to deliver tactical and conceptual training in support of regional stability. This included troops from the Ghanaian Army’s 64th Infantry Bn and 69th Airborne Force, who currently provide a national security role in Ghana, and are looking to expand their capabilities as an expeditionary Task Force. A British Army Team Commander: “As a training team, our overall role within any region is partner-focused capacity building; to provide stability and protection against the emergence of future security threats. The aspiration is that by developing the skills, abilities and processes of one Partner Force, they will become a credible organisation through which capacity development can be passed on to neighbouring countries, having a greater overall effect within a particular region. The Ghana Armed Forces has announced the resumption of its 2025/2026 recruitment exercise in the Greater Accra Region. After a brief suspension last week, the exercise is set to continue on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

According to a press release issued by the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters in Accra’s Burma Camp, potential recruits in Greater Accra will undergo screening at 8 sub-centres across 5 locations. These include El-Wak Stadium, Nicholson Park in Burma Camp, Air Force Base in Burma Camp, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) in Teshie, and Eastern Naval Command in Tema.

Qualified applicants in batches of 600 will receive SMS notifications with their reporting dates and designated centres. They’re advised to check the recruitment portal for updates and strictly follow the given instructions. Applicants needing help can call or WhatsApp 0256405104 or 0256405154 by November 20.

The Ghana Armed Forces expressed regret over a recent unfortunate incident during the recruitment process and extended sympathies to bereaved families. Injured individuals will receive free medical care at 37 Military Hospital until recovery. A special recruitment package will also be offered to those injured after recovery and to bereaved families.

A Board of Inquiry has been set up to investigate the circumstances leading to the stampede, with the entire Greater Accra Recruitment team replaced. The Ghana Armed Forces assured the public that anyone found culpable will face sanctions.
