New Patriotic Party (NPP) member Paul Sah has urged Ghanaians to prioritise the national interest over political loyalty in the fight against corruption, insisting that wrongdoing must be condemned regardless of party affiliation.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nkosuonsem, hosted by Obidehyie Kofi Sekyi, he called for a collective national effort to tackle corruption and ensure that individuals are held accountable for their actions, irrespective of their political affiliations.
His comments followed a report aired by a sister station on October 9, 2026, concerning an alleged recruitment scam involving an NDC constituency organiser and deputy organiser in the Krachi East area of the Oti Region. The two were reportedly linked to allegations that GH¢200,000 had been collected from job seekers under the pretext of securing employment for them.
Reacting to the report, Mr Sah expressed concern about the allegations, arguing that membership of a political party should never serve as a shield against accountability.
He maintained that anyone found culpable of wrongdoing must face the appropriate consequences, regardless of whether they belong to the NPP, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or any other political party.
Mr Sah also criticised the tendency of some citizens to defend alleged misconduct because those involved belong to their preferred political parties. He said such partisan attitudes undermine efforts to combat corruption and place political interests above the welfare of the country.
He stressed that Ghana’s development depends on citizens’ willingness to speak against wrongdoing and demand accountability from political leaders and party officials.
Mr Sah therefore called on Ghanaians to adopt an objective approach to allegations of corruption and misconduct, urging them to judge such matters on their merits rather than through partisan considerations.
He concluded that the national interest must take precedence over political loyalty, emphasising that a united and uncompromising stance against corruption is essential to Ghana’s progress.
