A suspected thief has been lynched by an angry mob at Esaso in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred on Friday, November 7, 2025, and the deceased’s body was found in a gutter.

Two tricycles belonging to the suspect were also burnt during the incident.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect and four others had attempted to steal building materials from a construction site, but were caught by some youth in the area.

Four of the suspects managed to escape, but the one who was caught was subjected to mob violence and later found dead.

Residents of the area have expressed concerns about the increasing cases of armed robbery and theft in the community, and believe the lynching was a response to these incidents.

“The youth are already agitated over the recent armed robbery cases in the area, and so I’m sure they must have done this to send a strong warning to the thieves,” a resident said.

The police have yet to comment on the incident, but such acts of mob violence are a growing concern in Ghana, with several cases reported in recent times.
