Hearts of Oak charged for failing to control fans after Kotoko defeat

MTN FA Cup: Hearts of Oak, Medeama stunned
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Hearts of Oak have been charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for failing to control their supporters during Sunday’s Super Clash defeat to Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The decision follows chaotic scenes after referee Reginald Collins Amoah blew the final whistle in a match that ended 1-0 in favour of Kotoko. Several Hearts players and fans confronted the referee over his key decisions, including a first-half penalty awarded to Kotoko and a late offside call that denied Mawuli Wayo what would have been an equaliser.

Video footage showed angry supporters throwing objects onto the pitch as security personnel struggled to restore order. The GFA cited breaches of Articles 16(2)(b) and 34(6)(d) of the Disciplinary Code and the Premier League Regulations, 2025.

Hearts have until Tuesday, November 11, 2025, to respond to the charges.
