Dispute arises after driver denied car near end of Work-to-own contract

A heated debate has erupted in Tema after a driver who had been working under a “work-and-pay” arrangement was denied ownership of a car just two months before the contract was set to end.

According to reports, the driver had been faithfully working and making payments toward the vehicle, which was owned by his employer. The agreement allegedly stated that once the full payment period was completed, the car would become the driver’s property.

However, sources say the employer, who also serves as the car’s owner, recently withdrew the vehicle from the driver’s possession, effectively ending the agreement prematurely. The decision has sparked outrage among residents and social media users, many of whom argue that the employer acted unfairly.

Some concerned citizens have called on the car owner to reconsider, suggesting that the driver deserves to receive the car given his dedication and the time already invested. Others have urged local authorities or labor officials to intervene to ensure that the terms of the work-and-pay agreement are respected.

As of now, both parties have remained silent on whether they intend to resolve the matter privately or seek legal action.
