Richard Anning, an NPP communicator for the Tema Central Constituency, has questioned former President John Dramani Mahama’s promise to cancel the payment of ex-gratia if re-elected. Speaking on Nkosuo Nsem on Plan B FM, Mr. Anning stressed that the framers of Ghana’s Constitution deliberately instituted the system to cushion public officers after their service, recognizing the difficulties they face in resuming normal jobs once they leave office.
He is suggesting that ex-gratia should rather be paid once after an official exits political office, and not every four years as currently practiced.
Mr. Anning concluded that Mahama’s campaign promises are misleading and cannot be fulfilled, urging Ghanaians not to be swayed by what he described as political rhetoric.
