A tragic incident has occurred in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region, where an Assembly member from Aboabo has been shot dead by armed security men, with two others sustaining gunshot wounds.

Residents in an interview with OTEC News Reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng said the Assembly Member Hon Samuel Danquah  have been confirmed dead at a s

hospital after he was shot by a military man

The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, following a clash between youth from Mpatuam and armed military men on a mining concession in the area.

According to the Assembly Member for Mpatuam, Hon. Kwame Sakyi,  the clash erupted after agitated youth in the community accused Asanko Mines security of killing a miner a day before.

The community blocked roads in response to the alleged killing, leading to a scuffle between the youth and security personnel.

During the confrontation, armed soldiers fired at the residents, killing the Assembly member and injuring two others who are currently battling for their lives in the hospital”.He said.

The situation in the area is reportedly getting out of hand, with cars belonging to Asanko Mines burnt by the agitated youth.

Hon. Kwame Sakyi, who witnessed the incident, described the scene as chaotic, with the youth demanding justice for their colleague’s alleged killing.

The incident highlights the growing tensions between local communities and mining companies in the region. The youth’s actions are seen as a desperate attempt to draw attention to their plight and demand accountability from the mining companies and security agencies operating in their area.
