Truck Skids Off N1 at Tetteh Quarshie Interchange After Hitting Pothole

Availability Of More Rest Stops Will Be The Solution to Fatigue Driving Which Is The Major Cause Of Road Traffic Crashes – NRSA

A truck accident occurred on the morning of Tuesday, September 2, 2025, when a vehicle veered off the N1 Highway near the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange in Accra.

The incident, which took place around 8:00 am, caused panic among commuters but fortunately resulted in no fatalities.

Eyewitnesses reported that the truck was en route to the Accra Mall stretch when it struck a pothole in the middle of the road.

The impact caused the driver to lose control, forcing the truck off the main road.

It eventually came to a stop by the roadside, narrowly missing other vehicles during the busy morning traffic.

The driver and a passenger onboard sustained only minor injuries and were quickly assisted by bystanders.

No other cars were involved, and after the truck was cleared, traffic resumed with minimal disruption.

Several witnesses expressed frustration over the poor condition of the highway, highlighting the risks potholes pose—especially on such heavily trafficked roads.

They called on authorities to urgently repair the damaged sections around Tetteh Quarshie and across the N1 to prevent similar incidents in the future.

This accident has once again drawn attention to the importance of regular road maintenance and the pressing need to improve infrastructure to ensure public safety.

Although this particular crash did not result in serious harm, many warn that the next one might not end as fortunately.

The Ghana Highway Authority and city officials are being urged to act swiftly to address the issue before it leads to more dangerous outcomes on one of Accra’s busiest routes.
