Ghana’s version of the El Clásico was witnessed at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium when Accra Hearts of Oak faced off with rivals Asante Kotoko in matchday three of the 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament.
The Phobians beat the Porcupine Warriors convincingly by 2-0, with a goal in each half on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
Hearts of Oak took the lead through striker Frank Duku in the 5th minute.
The goal was scored after a beautiful build-up started with midfielder Abdul Karim. Karim passed the ball to George Paaku, who dished it to Frank Duku. The striker then skillfully moved past Kotoko goalkeeper Mohamed Camara before slotting the ball into the net to put the Phobians in the lead.
Left-back Emmanuel Amankwah grabbed the second goal for Hearts with a header in the 73rd minute from a corner.
Attacking midfielder Martin Karikari delivered a perfect cross to the far post, Ali Mohammed headed the ball to Emmanuel Amankwah, who finished with a powerful header into the net.
Asante Kotoko were aiming for their first win of the tournament after securing just a point from their first two games against Heart of Lions and GPL champions Bibiani Gold Stars.
The Phobians had 4 points from two games.
