The Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF) has strongly condemned comments made by the General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Dr. David Tenkorang Twum, describing them as “derogatory and unprintable.”

According to GNAFF, Dr. Tenkorang Twum made the remarks during a media interview, where he allegedly insulted Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and launched an “unprovoked verbal attack” on farmers.
In a statement, GNAFF expressed shock and disappointment that such comments would come from a leader of a professional body, stressing that farmers and fishermen have been the backbone of Ghana’s economy, contributing significantly to food security and national development.
“It is highly disheartening, discourteous, and unacceptable for such a venerable group to be subjected to public ridicule in this manner,” the association stated.

The group has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to Dr. Tenkorang Twum, demanding that he retract his remarks and issue an unqualified apology to farmers and fishermen across the country. Failure to do so, GNAFF warned, would compel it to take “appropriate steps” to defend the dignity of its members.
GNAFF further called on Ghanaians to continue respecting the sacrifices of farmers and fishermen, whom it described as the “lifeline of national development.”
Meanwhile, the Health Minister, during a press conference on Thursday, August 21, downplayed criticisms that suggest that his farming background makes him unfit to head the Health Ministry, stating that he’s a proud farmer.
