Two goals in four minutes in the first half were enough for Accra Hearts of Oak to score a 2-0 win over Kpando Heart of Lions to win the 2025 Gbese Mantse Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Goals from Frank Duku in the 36th minute and Hamza Issah in the 40th minute sealed the win for the Phobian Club in the preseason contest and lift the title.

Recently signed from Vision FC, Duku scored from close range off a free kick in the 36th minute for the game’s first goal. The goal was Duku’s first on his debut for Hearts.

Issah added the game’s second goal a few minutes later when Duku set him up in a counter attack and had him lob the ball past Lions’ goalkeeper to underpin a strong display from Mas-Ud Dramani’s team.

Lions fared better in the second half but their efforts weren’t enough to get past Hearts’ backline; the game was headlined by Gbese Mantse Nii Ayi-Bonte II, National Sports Authority Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah and Hearts of Oak Board Member Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe.

Hearts of Oak next take on city rivals Accra Great Olympics in the Democracy Cup on August 29.
