Books Don’t Lie” – James Tamakloe Questions Mahama’s Motive for Cathedral Audit

National Cathedral Project “Suspended” As Contractor Lays Off Workers Despite GHC200 Million Payment

James Tamakloe, a communicator for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tema West constituency, has questioned President John Mahama’s recent directive for the Auditor-General to conduct an audit into the National Cathedral project.

Speaking on Nkosuo Nsem, Tamakloe responded to the President’s announcement with measured skepticism, hinting that the Cathedral’s records are already available and that calls for an audit may be more about optics than substance.

“We say books don’t lie,” Tamakloe remarked. “If the President feels the Auditor-General should audit the National Cathedral for the truth to prevail, then so be it. But there are documents to the National Cathedral.”

He continued, “You will explain without evidence? Once they think there’s a problem with the Cathedral, we live to see.”

Tamakloe’s comments suggest that some within the NPP view the audit directive as unnecessary, especially when proper documentation for the project already exists.
