Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has called for calm and restraint in Bawku following renewed attacks in the area on Sunday, July 13.

The Minister appealed in a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Monday, July 14, as tensions remain high in the conflict-prone town.

Dr Boamah acknowledged the disturbing nature of the recent developments and assured the public that steps are being taken to address the situation.

“We are, once again, urging restraint and calm in Bawku regarding the latest developments as of yesterday,” he stated.

His call comes as residents report rising fear and uncertainty following Sunday’s violence.

The Defence Minister revealed that he has ordered comprehensive investigations into the latest incident and promised swift action based on the findings.

“I have directed thorough investigations into the recent matter and promised to take swift action based on recommendations,” he said, reinforcing the government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in the troubled region.

Dr Boamah concluded his statement with another strong appeal to all parties involved to refrain from further violence. “Once again, let us ensure restraint!” he urged.
