“Where Is the Money?” – Nana K Questions $4.8 Billion Tourism Revenue Report

“Where Is the Money?” – Nana K Questions $4.8 Billion Tourism Revenue Report
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Ghanaian entertainment personality and creative industry advocate, Richard Kwabena Bhorneg, popularly known as Nana K, has raised eyebrows over Ghana’s reported $4.8 billion tourism revenue for 2024, as stated in the latest Ghana Tourism Authority report.

Speaking in an interview with Blutut Africa on Plan B Showbiz, Nana K expressed strong skepticism about the impact of the reported figures, asking critical questions about accountability and tangible development.

“What shows we had $4.8 billion, according to the Ghana Tourism report 2024? Where is the money?” he asked bluntly.

Nana K pointed out the disconnect between the tourism revenue figures and the lived experiences of many Ghanaians, especially those in tourism-prone communities. He argued that despite the growing popularity of Ghana as a cultural and travel destination, the country lacks the necessary infrastructure to support and sustain the sector.

“Tourism has had no impact. Look at our roads. There are places in Ghana that when you visit, you don’t even feel like going back home — but there’s no structure to even host visitors,” he lamented.

He further questioned how the billions reportedly generated have been invested, saying:

“If we have been able to raise that much money, what have we been able to do with it?”
