A 47-year-old Fire Service Officer, Goi Augustina Aboagyewaa Armah, faces court. She is accused of defrauding 11 people. The fraud was under the pretense of helping them join security agencies.

In front of His Honour Samuel Bright Acquah, she pleaded not guilty. She faces six counts of defrauding by false pretence. This is against Section 131(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). Chief Inspector Prince Tetteh Baafo is prosecuting the case.

The prosecution claims Armah works at the Trade Fair Fire Station in Accra. She allegedly claimed to have access to “protocol slots” in various security agencies. These include the Ghana Immigration Service and Ghana Police Service.

Armah reportedly collected between GH¢15,000 and GH¢25,000 from victims. She promised to secure recruitment slots for them or their relatives. In total, she allegedly took about GH¢194,970 from complainants.

Among those defrauded were military officers and a police officer. Victims also included a businesswoman and an unemployed citizen. After receiving payments, Armah stopped all communication and did not fulfill her promises.

Investigations revealed that she admitted to receiving the funds. However, she claimed to have given them to someone named Emmanuel Sackey. She could not provide credible information about him for police action.

The court granted her bail set at GH¢100,000 with three sureties. One surety must be her husband; another must be a security officer; the third must be an ordinary citizen.

The court will reconvene on July 21, 2025, to continue hearing the case.
