Matthew Kitcher, a prominent social commentator, has sparked intense debate by labelling President John Dramani Mahama as Ghana’s worst president in history if he continues to burden Ghanaians with excessive taxes.
On Plan B FM’s popular afternoon show “Ɛbaa No Sɛn” with host Ohene Kinnah, Kitcher expressed outrage over the NDC government’s recent GH₵1 levy on petroleum products.
Kitcher slammed the move as hypocritical, given the NDC’s vocal criticism of similar policies when they were in opposition.
“Not even 50p, but GH₵1 levy on petroleum products? This is too much,” he lamented, emphasising the far-reaching consequences for the economy and ordinary Ghanaians.
In a surprising comparison, Kitcher added, “In terms of levying the people, I prefer former President Akufo-Addo to Mahama.”
This statement has generated intense debate, with many questioning Kitcher’s stance on the two administrations’ economic policies.
