Three people, including a father and his children, are receiving treatment at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital after falling victim to an armed robbery attack at Gomoa Dominase Junction in the Central Region.

The victims were reportedly returning home from the Gomoa Akyempim Complex Market, popularly known as the Onion Market, when they were ambushed by the robbers.

This incident marks the third robbery reported by police in the area within just three days.

On Saturday, armed men stormed a restaurant at Okyereko Junction and made away with an undisclosed amount of money.

The following day, the robbers mounted a roadblock on the Kasoa-Winneba highway and robbed commuters at gunpoint.

Monday’s attack, which involved a father and his children, has further raised fears among residents.

Speaking to Adom News, the Zongo Chief of Gomoa Dominase Junction, Rahman Alhassan, revealed that the robbers had trailed one of the victims from the market to his home. Upon arrival, the assailants demanded money, and when the victim failed to comply, they opened fire.

The police are yet to make any arrests, but investigations are ongoing. Meanwhile, residents are calling for increased security presence in the area to prevent further attacks.
