37 Military Hospital Shuts Emergency Unit For Fumigation From June 4–14
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The 37 Military Hospital has announced a temporary closure of its Medical Emergency Unit (MEU) to carry out a comprehensive fumigation exercise aimed at safeguarding public health and maintaining environmental hygiene.

The shutdown, scheduled to take place from Wednesday, June 4, to Saturday, June 14, 2025, is part of a proactive effort to ensure a sterile and safe environment for both patients and healthcare personnel.

In a statement issued by Lieutenant R.K. Kotoku on behalf of the Acting Director General of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces, the hospital informed the public of the development and urged them to make use of alternative emergency medical facilities in Accra during the 10-day period.

Hospitals such as Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital), Police Hospital, and Lekma Hospital are expected to accommodate emergency cases redirected from the 37 Military Hospital.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Kotoku assured that special arrangements have been made to ensure that entitled personnel continue to receive emergency medical care during the shutdown. These patients will be attended to at the Trauma Surgical Emergency Unit (TSEU), which will remain fully operational throughout the fumigation period.

The hospital emphasized that this strategic measure is necessary to uphold high standards of hygiene and infection control, while also minimizing disruptions to critical care services for designated patient groups.

Management of the 37 Military Hospital has expressed sincere regret for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the public’s cooperation and understanding during this essential exercise.
