Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) presidential hopeful, Michael Odum Aggrey, has pledged to prioritize the welfare of athletes if elected president in the upcoming elections scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2025, in Accra.
The former President of the Ghana Golf Association has vowed to ensure that athletes are well taken care of should he be given the nod to lead the GOC.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s Kawadwen sports show, hosted by Dan K. Pobi ‘Okocha’, the veteran sports administrator lamented the long-standing neglect of lesser-financed sports and stressed the need for change.
“Least-financed sports have been neglected for far too long. It’s about time we paid attention and made things better,” he said.
“I have the qualities and qualifications to lead the GOC. I have done an incredible job for the athletes and the federation since I joined. My aim is to provide good leadership and unite all feuding factions if elected,” he added.
Aggrey also emphasized the need for increased investment in athlete development and wellbeing.
“I am a father to all. The psychological wellbeing of athletes is paramount to me. I urge all delegates to come out in their numbers and vote for me on Saturday,” he concluded.
