Tema West NDC Women’s Wing endorses female MCE

NDC Set To Elect 2024 Flagbearer In November This Year

The women’s wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tema West Constituency of the Greater Accra Region has held a press conference to petition President Mahama to appoint Madam Edita Wilson as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Tema West Municipality.

Speaking in an interview on Plan B FM’s Ebaanosen, hosted by Ohene Kinnah, Madam Angela Amoah, the convener of the group, stated that this marks a significant moment in the constituency’s history, as a woman has never held the position of MCE in the past 28 years.

The group is urging the President to break this glass ceiling and appoint a female MCE.

Madam Edita Wilson, the proposed candidate, has an impressive track record as a branch women’s organizer, where she demonstrated exceptional leadership skills. The group believes she would excel as MCE, bringing a fresh perspective and much-needed representation to the role.

While acknowledging that the ultimate decision lies with the President, Madam Amoah emphasized the group’s fervent hope that Madam Edita Wilson will be appointed.

“We will be deeply disappointed if the President does not appoint Madam Edita Wilson. We are pleading with him to give her the opportunity to serve,” she said.
