Ghanaians will demand ‘fast track court’ after NPP’s actions are revealed – Economist

Ghanaians will demand ‘fast track court’ after NPP’s actions are revealed – Economist
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A United States-based Ghanaian economist, Dr Sa-ad Iddrisu, has expressed shock at the kind of economic turmoil Ghana finds itself in.

Dr Iddrisu, who indicated he was currently involved in ongoing works at Ghana’s Ministry of Finance, said that the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by former Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has brought the economy to its knees.

He said that he would have shared the details he is seeing from his work if not for the oath of secrecy he has sworn.

He added that the general public would be demanding the head of the previous government if they get to know of the trouble they have put themselves in.

“Sitting at the finance ministry and seeing what are in the books, Ghanaians have really been patient with the NPP in power and in opposition now. I would have poured out some data this morning, but we are guided by the oath of secrecy and confidentiality of office, and thus, one can’t pour out certain economic data publicly.

“However, if Ghanaians actually knew the economic mess Ex-President Nana Addo and his NPP appointees left behind, we would all be advocating for a ‘fast track court’ to jail these ‘criminal’ masterminds,” the US-based academic wrote in a post shared on Facebook on Friday, February 21, 2025.
