NPP has come to power, NDC has come to Power—When Will Ghana Come to Power?” Samuel Aborbi quizzes

NPP has come to power, NDC has come to Power—When Will Ghana Come to Power?” Samuel Aborbi quizzes

A Communications Team Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashaiman Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, Samuel Aborbi, popularly known as Aban, has posed a critical question: When will Ghana come to power?

He raised this concern because, according to him, while both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the NDC have taken turns governing the country, they often neglect the interests of ordinary Ghanaians once they assume office.

Speaking during a panel discussion on Plan B FM’s Nkosuo Nsem show, hosted by Obidehyie Kofi Sekyi on Thursday, January 30, 2025, Aborbi expressed his dissatisfaction with how successive governments prioritize party loyalists over competent but non-partisan Ghanaians in state appointments.

When the NPP comes to power, they appoint and employ party members in state institutions, sidelining capable Ghanaians who are not affiliated with them. When the NDC comes to power, they do the same thing. So, I ask again ”when will Ghana come to power and appoint Ghanaians based on merit rather than party affiliation? he questioned.

He urged political leaders to prioritize national interest over party loyalty.

Aborbi also lamented how party supporters take over state institutions after every change in government.

Supporters of political parties demand that heads of state institutions, along with their staff, vacate their offices so they can take over. This practice must stop, he stated.

He emphasized the need to put Ghana first, urging all stakeholders to act in the best interests of the nation.
