Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko’s 2016 post resurfaces amid 2024 Campaign

I am Against ‘Anti-Gay’ Bill – Gabby Otchere-Darko

, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, from 2016 has become a subject of reference in the heat of the ongoing 2024 presidential and parliamentary campaign.

On November 28, 2016, a few days before the general elections, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko took to his Facebook page to urge Ghanaians not to be swayed by the then-ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He urged that while the NDC pointed to infrastructural development as part of its achievements, issues such as unemployment, economic hardships and corruption should be key determinants in voter decisions.

“Don’t let the ruling party divert your attention. This election is about worsening unemployment, economic hardships, corrupt and incompetence leadership. We are voting for change and not for an interchange,” he wrote.

Exactly eight years down the line, Gabby, whose cousin, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will be handing over to the new president elected by Ghanaians on December 7, 2024, has become a talking point again after his old post resurfaced online.

While the private legal practitioner has been making a case for the NPP’s presidential candidate, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, his critics believe the statement from 2016 still holds true but does not favour the current government.
