Some unidentified gunmen have ambushed and attacked New Patriotic Party (NPP) campaigners at Asante Akim North Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

According to MyNewsGh.com reporters, the victims were attacked by the suspects at Kowirem in Agogo while on their way from campaign activities.

It is gathered that they were standing by their pick-up, number GR 7757-24, when the suspects appeared from nowhere in an unregistered Range Rover, crossed them, and started firing indiscriminately.

They seized the pick-up keys and took away their mobile phones amidst gunshots and drove away.

An official complaint has since been lodged with the police, who dispatched some investigators to the scene of the crime, where spent shells of ammunition following the sporadic shooting were found.

Police indicate that the matter is currently being investigated, and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects said to be on the run.
