Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Okaikoi South Constituency were left shaken following an alleged attack on their campaign van late in the evening of Monday, November 11, 2024.

The NDC claims that the attack, which took place in the constituency, was carried out by foot soldiers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by the party’s former constituency organizer, Oti.

According to the NDC, the attackers targeted their campaign van, resulting in an injury to the driver.

The attack has sparked strong condemnation from the NDC, with the party labeling the act as “senseless violence” and promising to take positive actions to protect their supporters and seek justice.

In a statement released by the Constituency Secretary, Evans Okoe Quaye, the party expressed their anger about the attack, emphasising their commitment to safeguarding their supporters.

“We, the NDC, will not tolerate such brutality and intimidation. We will not sit idly by while our supporters are targeted. We will take necessary actions to protect our people and ensure justice is served,” Mr Quaye said.

The NDC also drew attention to the broader political context, claiming that this attack is part of a worrying pattern of violence linked to the NPP.
