Kweku Azar reacts to UTAG strike decision; recounts what happened in 1978

US based Ghanaian law professor, Professor Kweku Azar has hailed UTAG for their ongoing strike actions declared yesterday. According to him, it is the academics responsibility to ensure leaders do things that will favour the future generations.

Professor Kweku Azar said the university lecturers have the duty to uphold what is right for the nation. He said they must be at the forefront of societal change when things are not going in favour of the society.

He charged university lecturers to challenge injustice, advocate for progressive solutions to problems, and also inspire the future leaders to pursue a what is good for everyone.

“University lecturers have a duty to uphold what is right. They must be at the forefront of societal change. They must challenge injustices, advocate for progressive solutions, and inspire future leaders to pursue the common good” he wrote.

The highly revered professor also added that university lecturers will uphold the above good attributes, the future generation will also be equipped to do same.

Recounting what happened in the past, professor Kweku Azar said it was University Teachers that called for the return of the civilian rule un 1978. He said these UTAG members were insulted and attacked by the patriots,. organizers council, the friends, Ghana youngsters club and other Pro-Kutu groups. He said in doing so, they were able to pave way for this generation teachers to emulate same

“This reminds me of UTAG’s call for a return to civilian rule in 1978. They were insulted and attacked by the Patriots, Organizers Council, The Friends, Ghana Youngsters Club and other Pro-Kutu groups.” He added.

He congratulated UTAG for their bold decisions to defend what is right for Ghanaians today and the future.
