A Communication team member of Movement for Change for Tema of the Greater Accra Region, Felix Kwasi Annan has revealed that president Akufo-Addo’s government is toothless in the fight against galamsey.
Felix expressed disappointment in the president’s silence on the galamsey fight and how he is handling it.
Illegal mining ‘galamsey’ activities destroying forest reserves, water bodies and farm lands which is pathetic.
In a panel discussion on Plan B FM’s ‘Nkosuo Nsem’ show on Wednesday, October 9 2024 hosted by Obidehyie Kofi Sekyi, Kwasi Annan stated that MMDCE’s appointed by the president who are supposed to take proper care of everything within their jurisdiction are all involved in galamsey and the president has kept mute.
“The president has the power to sack all MMDCE’s partaking in illegal mining but because the president is toothless, nothing has been done” he indicated
“Illegal miners destroying forest reserves, water bodies and farm lands are freely walking in the country whiles president Akufo-Addo put his presidency on the line in the fight against galamsey but there is no show from the of the president and his government. This clearly shows that, Akufo-Addo’s government is toothless ” he noted.
