Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has shed light on expenditure made by Ghana’s contingency at the 2023 AFCON.

The 2023 AFCON was held in Cote D’Ivoire and had Ghana’s Black Stars fail to win a game in three outings and crash out at the group stage.

In his address before the Parliamentary Select Committee for Sports, Culture and Tourism, Sports Minister Ussif provided details on how three million dollars was spent by the entourage before, during and after the competition.

Members of the Save Ghana Football Movementincluding journalists Veronica Commey and Saddick Adams were present at the briefing.

His address included expenses on the Black Stars friendly game played in Kumasi against Namibia at the Baba Yara Stadium with the game ending goalless. The Baba Yara Stadium has since been closed down for renovation.

“Our team, once they are hear and they are going to Cote D’Ivoire, you have to charter a flight and that flight comes at a cost. Apart from you flying all of them in business class, you also have to charter a flight…and when they finish, you get a flight to bring them back so those are the cost.”
