Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Director of IT and Elections for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has raised concerns about the Electoral Commission’s (EC) silence following the recent arrest of suspect found in possession of a device allegedly belonging to the Commission.
In a post shared on his Facebook page, Dr. Omane Boamah expressed worry that despite several hours passing since the police announced the arrest, the EC has yet to make a statement regarding the incident. He noted that such silence is concerning, especially given the critical period the country is in as it prepares for elections.
“It has been almost 12 hours since a BVD suspected to belong to the Electoral Commission was found with a suspected criminal. EC’s silence is too loud!” Dr. Omane Boamah’s post read.
He also urged members of the NDC to remain vigilant, emphasizing the importance of being alert to any potential actions that could compromise the integrity of the election process. His remarks highlight concerns within the opposition that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) may attempt to manipulate the upcoming elections.
