Emmanuel Donkoh, a 36-year-old hunter, has been arrested after allegedly confessing to shooting his friend, Kwaku Aboagye, 57, also known as Accra Bread.

The shocking incident occurred in the community of Assin Seidukrom in the Assin South District of the Central Region.

Residents have been left in shock since the deceased had been declared missing in January 2024.

Aboagye went missing on January 26, 2024, during a hunting expedition. The suspect, who was with him at the time, denied knowledge of his friend’s whereabouts. But after more than six months, the hunter has confessed to killing him during the expedition.

According to Donkoh, the incident occurred in the Kakum Forest Reserve, specifically in the Assin Seidukrom area.

He was followed by a team of police investigators led by Detective Corporal Nii Armah Ashitey to where he reportedly buried the remains of the deceased.

The police found Aboagye’s skeletal remains, identified by his distinctive clothing: Wellington boots, a black T-shirt, and black trousers.

The motive behind the killing is still unknown, but police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

Reporting the incident on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Agyadu Barima said the suspect and deceased were the best of friends and did everything together.

The suspect swore on the Bible and other deities on the day of the incident, claiming that his friend received a call and went home.

“But after several months, it remains unclear what happened when the suspect started shouting that he wanted to confess. Residents were surprised and wondered what was happening, so they drew closer to him.

“He then asked them to invite the police over because he had a confession to make. The police were invited, and when they arrived, Emmanuel confessed that he was the one who shot and killed his friend.

“He confessed that his friend switched on a radio, and so he (the suspect) asked him (the deceased) to turn the radio off since that could get them arrested. However, the deceased pulled a knife on him, and because he did not have a knife, he pulled his gun and allegedly shot him. That was what he told the police.”

The reporter added that the police used a shovel to retrieve the remains of the deceased.
