This will be the third time the Company has shut the plant down since the commencement of the Suame Interchange in the Ashanti Region.
The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has urged its customers to store adequate water as it prepares to shut down the Barekese Treatment Plants ahead of an operation on Tuesday.
In a statement, the company explained that the operation entails changing some valves and tying in old pipelines to newly laid ones. This has been necessitated by the ongoing construction works around the Suame Interchange.
This will be the third time the Company has shut the plant down since the commencement of the Suame Interchange in the Ashanti Region.
“Management has requested the shutdown of the Barekese Treatment Plant which supplies water to the metriopolis to enable engineers to GWL to execute this exercise on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 5 am and resume at 6 pm.”
“As a result, customers are required to store enough water ahead of this important exercise,” it directed.
Earmarked areas to be affected by the exercise include, Suame, Tafo/Pankrono, Asokwa, Bantama, Kronum, Barekese,
Manhyia, Oforikrom, Kwadaso, Atasamanso, Kotwi, Adum, KNUST, Oduom, Asokore Mampong and surrounding areas.
The Company also apologized for the inconvenience the operation may cause.
