The third edition of Plan B FM Inter-Community Soccer Gala has been launched today Friday August 2, 2024 at the forecourt of Plan B 104.5 FM.
The tournament will be held on the 17th August to 8th September 2024, with 32 teams set to battle it out for the ultimate prize.
The wining team will take home a mega trophy, medals, set of jerseys and a cash prize. The second placed team will receive medals, set of jerseys and a cash prize.
The third placed team will get medals and a cash prize.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Free Minds Communication Company Limited, owners of Plan B FM, Dr. Martin Asare Aniagyei expressed appreciation to all the teams who participated in the first and second editions. He urged all thirty-two participating teams to play their hearts out to be able to secure the ultimate prize.
“I will urge all of you to take the tournament seriously because you may end benefits in the form of prizes, but more importantly longer term of benefits of exposure to the football fraternity looking for talents all over Africa” he stated
The special guest for the occasion, Mr. Emmanuel Aidoo, a veteran football coach commended management of Plan B FM for the wonderful initiative which he believes will go a long way to revive the dwindling fortunes of grassroot football in Ghana.
He also added that, the Plan B FM Inter- Community Soccer Gala will provide a platform for the players to showcase their talents to the world.
Coach Leonard Morgan, chairman for the event, who also doubles as the technical lead for the tournament expressed his excitement to be part of the tournament.
He promised more talents will be unearth when the competition takes off.
The Chief Executive Officer of Plan B FM, Madam Comfort Aniagyei took the opportunity to thank former player of Apatasi FC, Thomas Winimi, who was discovered through the 2023 edition of Plan B FM Inter-Community Soccer who now plays for Ghana Premier league giants Accra Hearts of Oak for making his former team and the organizers of the soccer gala proud.
She encouraged the players in this year’s edition to give off their best in order to catch the eye of scouts and other teams at the elite level.
On his part, Thomas Winimi advised the players to take the soccer gala seriously and give off their maximum best when the tournament kicks off.
Present at the event was the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s parliamentary Candidate for the Tema West Constituency in the 2024 elections James Enu, who donated an amount of two-thousand Ghana cedis (GH₵ 2,000.00) and footballs to support the tournament and also promised to prioritize youth development in the Tema West Constituency if he wins the 2024 parliamentary elections.
He also thanked the management of the station for taking up the initiative to discover talents for the development of football in Ghana.
The Coach of defending champions Power FC, Odinga, expressed optimism of retaining their title. He promised more exciting football from his players in this year’s edition.
