A PETTY trader has been nabbed for allegedly stabbing a drug peddler dead during a fight at Krofrom, a suburb in the Kumasi Metropolis.

Kofi Owusu, the drug peddler, reportedly, usually sent his boys to sell illegal drugs at the exact place where the petty trader, George Mensah, 29, plies his trade in Krofrom.

Around 1:50pm on June 28, 2024, Owusu, again, sent his boys to sell drugs at the spot Mensah plies his trade. Mensah then drove Owusu’s boys away.

Upon learning of Mensah’s action, Owusu became furious so he rushed there and damaged a wooden structure where Mensah operates his trading activities.

This generated into an open brawl between Mensah and Owusu and in the process, the former reportedly stabbed the latter with a sharp knife, resulting in his death.

“Investigation at the scene of crime disclosed that the deceased was a drug peddler at Krofrom and suspect is also a petty trader at the same area.

“It was alleged the deceased normally sends his boys at where suspect plies his trade to sell drugs. That on June 28, 2024, the deceased and his boys repeated the act and the suspect drove them from the spot.

“The deceased did not take kindly to the suspect’s conduct and went and damaged a wooden structure belonging to the suspect where he operates his business.

“An altercation ensued between the two and degenerated into a fight at an open space near a public toilet close to Nana Fordjuor’s palace.

“In the process, the suspect stabbed the deceased at the back, chest and on the left chin with a knife. Deceased bled profusely and was rushed to KATH but died later,” a police report said.

The police also disclosed that stab wounds were found on the body, which has been deposited at the morgue, adding that suspect is in police custody assisting in investigations.
