Germany achieved a 5-1 victory over Scotland in the opening game for the UEFA Euro 2024 football championship.

Germany on Friday defeated Scotland 5-1 in the first game of the UEFA Euro 2024 soccer tournament.

Scotland defender Ryan Porteous got a red card for making a two-footed lunge at Germany captain Ilkay Gundogan.

He was sent off a minute before half-time for the foul.

Germany’s Kavel Havertz scored the resulting penalty giving Germany a 3-0 lead going into the break.

Scotland got its first and only point in the match from an own goal by Germany’s Antonio Rüdiger.
