Samuel Korang, alias True, an 81-year-old man, was found dead after going missing for two weeks.
The old man, who was said to be mentally unstable, was found dead and in a decomposing state.
The incident occurred at Kwatiri, near Odumase, in the Sunyani West District of the Bono Region.
Reporting the incident Nana Kwame said Mr. Korang left home two weeks ago and all efforts to find him proved futile.
The family confirmed that their father took ill, which left him mentally unstable but was treated.
Our reporter said the man usually left home and always returned.
However, for two weeks, they kept searching for him, reported the incident to the police, and also had some radio stations announce it on the platforms.
However, Samuel Korang was never found until his mortal remains were discovered along a river by a farmer.
Nana Kwame said the farmer who was on his way to his poultry farm first branched to his palm farm to harvest some mushrooms.
When he arrives to the site, he notices an unpleasant odour emanating from the other side.
He walked to the scene, only to find the lifeless body of the old man.
The legs of the deceased were immense in the water, and his T-shirt was tied to his head.
His left hand and an ankle were also severed from his body.
The farmer then raised an alarm, which drew the attention of the family and other residents in the area to the scene.
The Traditional Authority in the area has performed rites and invoked curses on those who are suspected to have killed Samuel Korang.
They have also pleaded with the gods to pardon them and deliver them from any calamities that may befall them, following the way the man was allegedly murdered.
The police have since launched an investigation into the matter.
