The director of Physical Education and National Cordinator of Sports Programs, Ghana, Emmanuel Demenya, has expressed worry over the neglect of colts football in the country.
He says this as a result of years of neglect the sector has suffered. A regrettable situation he believes, the director is certain the country’s colts football has a great future.
He went on to say that for Juvenile football to flourish, authorities need to look to the second cycle institutions as a route to unearth talents. In an interview with Tema Community 2 based radio station, Plan B 104.5 FM, the renowned Physical Education director also said the current Ghana Football Association (GFA) administration should invest in grassroots football to ensure that young football talents are discovered and also continuity.
“I think we need to take a critical look at our grassroots football. We need to take a second look at our second cycle and college football, that is where the talents are”.
“These kids are the future for our junior national teams if we prepare and groom them to represent us in Africa and the world”.
“If we don’t pay attention to this, it will get to a time that our junior teams will be relying on Ghanaian players born in the diaspora like we have been having recently, other than that, within the next few years to come our junior teams are really going to suffer’’. He stressed.
