Xavi Hernandez did not hide his frustration and anger after seeing Barcelona dumped out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage by PSG.
Barca had looked set to go through after Raphinha put the hosts 1-0 up in the second leg and 4-2 ahead of the visitors on aggregate.
However, the game turned after Ronald Araujo was handed a red card and PSG were able to launch a comeback and progress to the semi-finals.
Here’s what Xavi made of it all:
“Disgruntled, angry because I think that the play marks the tie. Eleven against eleven we were well organized. The play marks the tie completely. For me it is too much to whistle red in this play and from then on it is another game,” he said.
“I told the referee that he was very bad, that he was a disaster, does not understand football. It killed the tie. It changes everything. I don’t like to talk about the referees but we have to say it, we can’t stay silent.
“Barça will try again. We have had a very worthy Champions League, remarkable I would say.”
Xavi was also sent off yet again after another touchline tantrum which saw him kick some Champions League equipment. The Barca coach must now try to pick up his players quickly as there’s a small matter of a Clasico at the Bernabeu next.
