Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Eric Bekoe is the latest to advise the club to not participate in the CAF Champions league next season.
Kotoko is set to represent Ghana in the 2020/21 edition of the CAF Champions League season for the second year running following the cancellation of the Ghana Premier League due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking with Tema Community 2 based radio station, Plan B 104.5 FM, he indicated,
Eric Bekoe who gained prominence with the Porcupine Warriors by leading them to the glory in the 2007/08 Ghana Premier League season. Bekoe ended the 2007/08 season as top scorer with 17 goals in 23 appearances winning the Presidents Cup in the same season.
“The newly constituted Board and the technical team should work hard to shape the club before they face the rest of the clubs in Africa. During our time, we had a certain Osei Kuffuor, Nana Arhin Duah who have tested every soil, we had experienced players. For a team to perform fantastically well in Africa, it comes with top quality players. This current Kotoko team is not good enough to go to Africa”, he stressed.
The retired footballer also played for Egyptian side Petrojet SC after leaving Kotoko in December 2008.
