Ashiboi: Assemblyman accuses some unscrupulous persons of extortion from truck drivers

Ashiboi: Assemblyman accuses some unscrupulous persons of extortion from truck drivers
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Assemblyman for the Ashiboi Electoral Area Godsway Kwaku has alleged that some unscrupulous persons have been illegally collecting Ghs 100 from truck drivers parking on the shoulders of the roads in his electoral area for their gains.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s morning show NKOSUONSEM hosted by Obidehye Kofi Sekyi, the Assemblyman raised concerns over how some long and heavy vehicles are parking in unauthorized places but an individual is taking money from the vehicle drivers without going into the coffers of the Assembly for a project that could benefit the entire populace.

The Assemblyman called on the Tema Metropolitan Assembly to put measures in place to stop such persons from taking illegal fees from the truck drivers and rather find a better place for the heavy trucks to park and collect some fees from them to help generate income for the Assembly instead of allowing them park on the roadside for someone to collect the money for themselves and also to avoid vehicular traffic and accidents.
