Accra Hearts of Oak scored two second half goals to beat Heart of Lions 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports stadium Monday night.

Hearts of Oak were desperate for the points to maintain their unbeaten run after back to back draws with Bofoakwa Tano and Dreams FC. David Oppong Afrane was one of the two notable names in the Hearts of Oak starting line-up as he replaced Thomas Winimi in central defence while Michael Ampadu took the place of Isaac Frimpong.

Heart of Lions broke the deadlock in the last minute of the first half, through Mustapha Yakubu who curled a free kick into the roof of the net for the opener.

Hearts responded swiftly after the interval after midfielder Salim Adams headed home a Martin Karikari free kick in the 49th minute.

Left-back Dennis Nkrumah Korsah was sent off after receiving a red card a moment later. However Linda Mtange capitalised on a rebound from Salim Adams’ shot from to pomp home the winner in the 64th minute.

Accra Hearts of Oak are now 7th in the League log with 32 points – 7 points behind leaders FC Samartex.
