Five time award-winning best fisherman Mr. Justice Raymond Prah has alleged that a 3-year suspension of issuance of permits to Caneo Association members from the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development is a manipulation by top officials in government.

Speaking on Plan B FM morning show NKOSUONSEM hosted by Nana Yaw Abrompah, Mr. Prah expressed stated that, the decision from the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development is worrying and would bring hardship to local fisher folk and also give an opportunity to foreign fishermen to take over the market.

He said, they do not engage in illegal activities;

“We are a registered Association, approved and gazetted by the government and we pay our taxes to the government and we can not understand why the Minister would take such a decision with her powers without engaging us. This is what we do to feed our families what should we do to cater for our family within this 3-year ban, some of us inherit this job from our forefathers as a family business. We have acquired loans from banks, and we have paid for our permits to carve our canoes so how can the Minister ban us from doing our legal work” he indicated
